Dos mexicanos nominados al Oscar

Al fin se ha destapado la lista oficial de nominados a la 84 edición de entrega de los premios Oscar, en la que destaca el actor mexicano Demián Bichir en la categoría a Mejor Actor Principal por la película "A Better Life" (Una mejor vida) compitiendo con grandes astros hollywoodenses de la talla de George Clooney, Gary Oldman y Brad Pitt.

Se trata de la primera candidatura del actor mexicano al Oscar por su papel de Carlos Galindo, un jardinero humilde que cruza ilegalmente la frontera hacia Estados Unidos y se refugia en el este de Los Ángeles, con la firme convicción de buscar una vida de mejores oportunidades para su hijo.

Una reñida competencia le depara a Bichir, ya que George Clooney es considerado el actor favorito para llevarse la estatuilla, después de imponerse en los recientes Globos de Oro y en los Critic´s Choice Awards.

Anthony Quinn, ha sido el único actor mexicano que en esta categoría ha logrado el afamado premio en dos ocasiones por la cinta “Viva Zapata!” (1952) y Lust for Life (1956).

Por otro lado, el multipremiado cinefotógrafo mexicano Emmanuel Lubeski también se encuentra nominado en la categoría a Mejor Cinematografía / Fotografía por la cinta “The Tree of Life” (El árbol de la vida”), siendo ésta su quinta nominación a los premios de la Academia después de haber fungido como candidato en las entregas 2006 por “Children of Men”, 2005 por “El Nuevo Mundo”, 1999 por “Sleepy Hollow” y 1995 por “La Princesita”.

En la categoría a la presea máxima por Mejor Película figuran "The Artist" producida por Thomas Langmann, "The Descendants" de Jim Burke, Alexander Payne y Jim Taylor; "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" de Scott Rudin; "The Help" de Brunson Green, Chris Columbus y Michael Barnathan; "Hugo" de Graham King y Martin Scorsese; "Midnight in Paris" con Letty Aronson y Stephen Tenenbaum; "Moneyball" con Michael De Luca, Rachel Horowitz y Brad Pitt; "The Tree of Life" de Terrence Malick y "War Horse" con Steven Spielberg y Kathleen Kennedy.

La 84 edición de los Premios Oscar se llevará a cabo este próximo 26 de febrero en el Teatro Kodak de Los Ángeles, California.
